Valerie and I spent much musical time together when we were in college at NIU lo these many years ago, and we found when we began rehearsing for this performance that we still played together as though we had been doing so the whole 20 years we’d been apart. It was marvelous to work with her, and a genuine privilege to work with Myron, my former voice professor, and with Beth and Ramses, both fantastic musicians themselves!

We’re plotting our next program, which will be–we hope–to give the full premiere of the entire song cycle, LOVE THE HAVEN OF PEACE (poetry by yours truly–find the whole cycle at http://www.arsliricapoetry.com–and music by James R. Carlson–http://www.alembickmusic.com) as well as a performance of THE CLIFF’S EDGE (songs of a psychotic) by Margaret Garwood. Valerie has done the songs of a psychotic before, and they are truly an amazing collection of work, both the incredibly colorful poetry and the music in which it is set!
